If a cat starts to cross a road – to get to the other side – right as a car comes along, what does it do?

Speed up, of course. It urgently needs to get to the other side, even if its life is threatened. The cat doesn’t care. It has nine lives in the basket.

If a man starts to cross a road – again, to get to the other side – right as a car comes along, what does he do?

Run back, of course. He needs to get to the other side, but not if his life is threatened. He cares. He does not have nine lives in the basket.

What he should have considered was that going back was also risky; maybe more as the cars tried to circumvent around him.
